Complete Dentures Are an Adequate Solution for Missing Teeth

A smile communicates a great deal about a person’s personality, which is why complete dentures are the perfect solution to the loss of teeth. Several factors cause teeth to deteriorate and eventually fall out. It’s a cause of significant embarrassment for people which you can prevent with a visit to the dentist.

Benefits of Immediate Full Denture

There are two types of dentures, partial for a few teeth and complete for either the entire top row or bottom row of teeth. Once you’re a candidate for dentures, a dentist will take measurements of your gums and teeth and create dentures to fit your mouth.

  • You require teeth to chew all types of food but more specifically, chewy food items such as meat. When you lose teeth, chewing becomes impossible, and you have to rely on a liquid diet for nutrition. Fortunately, the addition of dentures normalises your life, especially concerning chewing. Apart from the initial adapting process, you can eat the foods that you love.
  • Self-esteem is the first casualty of the lack of teeth. It affects your smile and natural appearance. The logical reaction is to be cautious and hide your loss of teeth, which negatively affects your confidence. Dentures improve your smile, thus increasing self-confidence.
  • We design all dentures to be comfortable while remaining functional. As such, you can remove them easily to assist with cleaning and maintenance. Furthermore, it enhances your bone structure, thus supporting your facial muscles. Gaining support from dentures may improve your speech as well.

Common Mistakes People Make Regarding Full Dentures

Whether you’re receiving upper dentures or lower dentures, it’s a significant investment in your life. As such, you should protect your financial contribution by taking the necessary steps to extend the life of your dentures. Avoid these mistakes to prevent winding up with more problems with your dentures.

  • Similar to natural teeth, dentures accumulate a fair amount of plaque during the day. It’s advisable to clean false teeth after every meal and before bed. However, users treat their dentures differently than natural teeth and use abrasive toothpaste with a hard-bristle toothbrush. Over time, hard brushing damages the surface of the prosthesis, causing bacteria to accumulate. The cycle repeats until it becomes a problem; therefore, you should treat your dentures precisely as you would your natural teeth.
  • Moisture is critical to the maintenance of your dentures. Drinking excessive amounts of caffeine through coffee and soft drinks causes dryness in the mouth. Saliva is required for removing food particles and harmful bacteria, but when there’s caffeine present, it leads to dryness which affects the dentures, and those drinks could also stain your false teeth.
  • Aside from brushing your dentures normally, we recommend that you keep them in an anti-bacterial solution overnight to eliminate any nasty surprises and ensure thorough cleaning.
